Milt Kass
Milt Kass is one of the nations foremost graphic and industrial designers. For over 45 years, his award-winning work has enhanced the communications of clients in both Fortune 500 corporations and select niche businesses. He combines a relentless search for visual innovation with a mastery of production and information technology.
Milts expertise includes the planning, development and implementation of comprehensive brand identity programs, online brand management systems, simplified communications and information design, corporate and marketing communications, and package, environmental and digital design.
Milt has developed methodologies that help clients harness the power of effective communications and has built a team of multi-disciplined professionals whose ability to develop and implement powerful, effective design solutions has earned the steadfast loyalty of clients.
Milt established Kass Associates in 1972 and co-founded Kass Uehling in 1988, following senior design and management positions at deMartin Marona Associates and Lippincott & Margulies. An industrial design graduate of Pratt Institute in New York, he served on the faculty of Parsons School of Design and currently teaches communication design at Pratt Institute. He has received awards for design excellence from numerous professional organizations, including the American Institute of Graphic Arts, The New York Art Directors Club and The Philadelphia Art Directors Club
Jim Uehling
Principal
Jim’s distinguished career coincided with and contributed to the emergence of corporate identity in the U.S. as a component of strategic planning and a fundamental aspect of contemporary business. Jim’s position in the corporate identity arena stems from wide consulting expertise, ranging from the analytic to the creative.
His reputation is based on a track record of focusing communications issues clearly with chief executives and senior management, then planning effective remedial solutions. Jim has supported a broad spectrum of industrial, telecommunications, financial services and energy companies in optimizing their current identity programs or modifying those programs to project new corporate definitions in an environment of change. Prior to co-founding Kass Uehling, Jim held senior positions with some of the world’s best-known corporate identity consulting and design firms. He was the New York managing director of London-based Addison Design Consultants (formerly S&O Consultants); and served extended tenures at Lippincott & Margulies, first as design director then as executive vice president; Lefkowith, Inc. as principal; and Siegel & Gale as senior vice president, all New York firms.
Jim is a graduate and former faculty member of Pratt Institute in New York and studied graphics at Atelier 17 in Paris under the late Stanley William Hayter. He is a frequent speaker and contributor to business publications.
John Young
Principal
For over 50 years, John Young has specialized in corporate identification and communications planning. He has assisted both Fortune 500 and mid-sized corporations in enhancing their communications practices and competitive positions.
His experience in solving the complex communications needs of today’s corporations spans all areas of industry, including manufacturing, transportation, financial and energy.
During the 1960s, John was a senior officer and creative director at Lippincott & Margulies. In 1970, he was a founding partner of Lee & Young Communications, an international branding and identity practice that operated from offices in New York, Paris, Stockholm and Tokyo.
Past and current clients include Norfolk Southern, Florida Power & Light, IKON Office Solutions, Tokai Bank of Japan, Swedish Rail, AIG Europe, Mutual of New York (MONY), John Nuveen, AmerisourceBergen and Equistar Chemicals,to name a few.
John is a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York. His work has been recognized by The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the New York and the Los Angeles Art Directors Clubs, Type Directors Club and Industrial Design Magazine. He is a frequent speaker and contributor to business publications.

Freya Ellinwood
VP, Client Services
Freya is responsible for day-to-day contact with clients. She brings a wealth of project management experience in a wide range of industries from both her long tenure at Kass Uehling as well as 20 years in advertising account supervision and media placement. She holds a Bachelors degree in Art History from the University of Arizona and an advanced degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Andy Letendre
Senior Brand Strategist
Andy’s 40-year career combines corporate and agency experience in developing creative concepts and content for a wide range of companies and clients. He offers hands-on experience in creating and managing corporate communications programs and departments having served as Vice President, Corporate Communications for The Travelers, Northeast Savings and Crum & Forster. On the agency side, he managed branding programs as a principal with Wondriska Associates and Blackburn Young that included naming, brand architecture and positioning for companies in healthcare, banking, insurance, manufacturing, chemical, real estate and services industries. He’s received numerous awards for excellence in advertising and public relations including three Silver Anvils from the Public Relations Society of America. Andy has a B.A. in Italian Literature from Yale.
Chatwalee Phoungbut
Design Director
Chatwalee brings Kass Uehling expertise in corporate and brand identity, packaging, graphicand industrial design, and has already won many design awards early in her career. A native of Thailand, she has a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology in Bangkok and a Master of Science in Communications Design from Pratt Institute.
Alex Liebergesell
Director, Interactive Media
Alex is responsible for leading Kass Uehlings technology-driven projects. He also serves on the faculty of Pratt Institute and has taught design at Yale University and the State University of New York. Alex holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University, Ohio. Along with his affiliation with Kass Uehling, Alex is principal of QNA Design, a New York-based design,communications and technology consultancy, which he founded in 1992.
